The PS5 Slim is currently AU$100 off at Amazon and other Aussie retailers

The PS5 hasn't received any substantial discounts in 2024. Amazon sometimes sells it for around AU$40 cheaper than RRP, but unless you get lucky, expect to pay the full AU$799.95 RRP on most days. But today is not most days: most major Australian retailers are currently offering PS5 with an unusually steep discount.

The discounts vary, but the best come via Amazon, Catch and Target, all of whom are charging AU$685 for the console. Both Amazon and Catch offer free shipping, whereas Target is a click and collect affair only—useful if you want it today and have an outlet nearby.

This is the cheapest we've seen the PS5 go for in 2024 - brand new, at least. Amazon is offering it at this price, but so is Catch ,Big W and Target (the latter is click and collect only). If you have a JB Hi-Fi nearby and want a cheap PS5 today, they're selling it for AU$699.

Other retailers are offering discounts on PS5 as well, albeit not as good as the aforementioned outlets:

This is the first big PS5 discount we've seen since Black Friday last year, which is now almost four months ago. So basically, if you want a PS5 and don't want to spend the full amount, now's a good time to bite.

If you decide to buy from Amazon, there are a handful of decent discounts on PS5 games too. So if any of the following take your fancy, you've also got your first game for cheap as well:

Assassin's Creed Mirage AU$79.95 AU$41.50
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora AU$109.95 AU$61.93
EA Sports FC 24 AU$109.95 AU$39
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor AU$109.95 AU$49
