And here you thought that the only place for zombies was on the business end of a shotgun. Well, when a pack of brains from outer space takes over a town, all that changes and you’ll find yourself rooting for the undead in Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys. This break-away game from the folks who used to be Disney Interactive marks a shift from the sappy learning games of yore to the awesome gross-out games that kids actually want to play.
You control one of three zombies risen from the grave (conveniently located on the lower DS screen) to battle the alien brain thingys across town from the graveyard to the mall and back onto their mothership. Gameplay is a mix of side-scrolling adventuring, puzzle solving and stylus-intense minigames as you guide the teenage zombies from level to level, using their unique zombie talents. The plot evolves through a series of comic-book style cutscenes that reveal to us the origins of our heroes, as well as the dastardly condescension of the boss bad-guy, Big Brain. Big Brain will periodically smash through the fourth wall to challenge you to mind-bending puzzles a la Brain Age.
