Teen Wolf Returns To Record Ratings In The States

While we here in the UK are still mourning the fact that Sky Living has dropped Teen Wolf , and no other broadcaster has stepped in yet to pick up season three over here, the series goes from strength to strength in the States. The third season premiere that aired on Sunday registered its biggest audience figures ever.

According to TVLine , episode 3.01 “Tattoo” – which aired on Monday – was watched by 2.4 million total viewers, beating the previous best figure set by the series premiere back in 2011 (which managed 2.17 million). Among teens it was the most-watched show of the day and in the important 12-34 demo (the one advertisers can flog stuff to) it was was up 15% from season two′s premiere.

The gushing MTV press release also points out that this season premiere didn’t have the same advantage as the first two seasons’ premieres of following the MTV Movie awards, making the achievement even more impressive. It adds, “ Teen Wolf was also the most social program* on television” the following day, which sadly doesn’t mean lots of groups of friends organised Teen Wolf premiere parties. Rather, “20% of all Twitter users engaged in TV-related conversations tweeted about the series, according to Social Guide. In total, the show generated approximately one million mentions on Twitter over the course of the day. Last night’s episode was the #1 most tweeted about MTV show, excluding the MTV Movie Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards since the beginning of 2012.”

Blimey, we thought people were still Tweeting about “ The Rains Of Castamere ”.
