PlayStation Neo tipped for September 7th unveiling, the same date as iPhone 7 - rumours

Sony will host a "PlayStation Meeting" event at 3 pm EDT / 8 pm BST on September 7 in New York City, and everything's coming up PS4 Neo. Previous reports pegged the date and location for the official reveal of the powered-up console which Sony confirmed it's developing earlier this year.

The PlayStation Meeting will be held at Sony's PlayStation Theater in Manhattan. It used to be the Best Buy Theater, but Sony bought and renamed it in 2015. Almost like they'd planned this thing all along…! The original PS4 reveal event in 2013 was also held in New York City, though that was at The Hammerstein at Manhattan Center.

A Sony representative said only that the company planned to share more details "about the PlayStation business" at the meeting, but it's tough to ignore the accuracy of those earlier reports. And since PS4 Neo has been rumored for an October release date, Sony would need to start showing it off pretty soon for everything to fit in this year.

Apple are rumored to be revealing iPhone 7 on the same day, September 7th, although this is likely an odd co-incidence. At minimum, it'll be interesting to see which unveiling gathers the most attention, but – being more speculative – Sony must have some awareness of the potential clash, since Apple have a history of announcing new products in early September.
