Hands up who wants to see our favourite foul-mouthed superhero team up with the Mr Grumpy snikt-snikt himself? There must be quite a few of us, surely. Ryan Reynolds is of the same opinion, as he recently said that just one of the "outline and stories for a number of different films" he’s considering includes one starring Wolverine and Deadpool.
However, Hugh Jackman has implied that Logan is going to be his last foray into the role of the gruff superhero. Could he come back for a Deadpool/Wolverine blockbuster? "I’m hesitating," says Jackman, "because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may
be wrong". Admittedly bringing out a film shortly after Logan debuts would look kind of strange, as Logan is supposed to document the end of Wolverine’s saga.
If you’re a fan of Deadpool, you might get a call to arms soon, as by the sounds of it Reynolds intends to harness the power of the fandom. He says he has "no
idea if I can change his mind" when it comes to getting Jackman on board, so it all depends on "the audience". Buddy-film might be the best bet for getting fans interested, especially as Reynolds mentioned that he "would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one". Considering Deadpool popped up in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (yes, the one where the merc with a mouth got his lips sewn shut), having him reappear wouldn’t be entirely out of the question.
So, who’s up for setting up a petition to get this film made? I definitely am.
