Riddick gets a release date

Vin Diesel has revealed the release date of Riddick via his official Facebook page , after teasing the information for some time.

The threequel, which follows on from Pitch Black and The Chronicles Of Riddick , will open in the US on 6 September 2013, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed (although we’d imagine it’d be around the same time).

It’s getting an IMAX release on top of a conventional cinema run, which suggests we can expect some pretty ambitious visuals, despite the synopsis giving the impression that the film would strip back TCOR ’s excesses to return to the grittiness of PB .

Riddick sees the titular bounty hunter attacked and left for dead on a desolate planet, where his survival odds look low in the face of some pretty nasty aliens.

Diesel posted a picture of himself with director David Twohy to celebrate the announcement.

Co-starring Katee Sackhoff and Karl Urban, Riddick will open in the US on 6 September 2013. But you know that already.
