Marc Spector meets Spider-Man plus a first look at a new Moon Knight in Black, White & Blood #1 preview

The Marvel Cinematic Universe now has a Moon Knight, but MCU fans still have a ton of unanswered questions as to who is under the cowl after the surprise final scene of the just-concluded Disney-Plus streaming series.

Never to miss an opportunity when it sees it, Marvel Comics is launching a second Moon Knight comic book series, which includes a story introducing a brand new avatar of the Egyptian god Khonshu.

Moon Knight: Black, White, & Blood is a new four-issue anthology series delving into the darker side of the character, as well as his potential replacement in the future.

Moon Knight: Black, White, & Blood #1's short stories include:

• 'Anibus Rex' by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Chris Bachalo
• 'The End' by writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Jorge Fornés
• 'So White, Yet So Dark' by writer Murewa Ayodele and artist Dotun Akanda

Preview images include a couple of pages from Ayodele and Akanda's 'So White, Yet So Dark' which features a team-up of Moon Knight and Spider-Man over one harrowing night, and a page from 'The End' by Guggenheim and Fornés which is a Moon Knight adventure told in reverse.

You'll have to read to find out if George ever takes off the Timberlands.

Finally, Hickman and Bachalo's 'Anibus Rex' introduces a new Moon Knight of the future. Here's a page from that story along with Bachalo-drawn concept art for this new Moon Knight.

In comic books, Marc Spector (and his various alternate identities such as Steven Grant and Jake Lockley) has been the main Moon Knight - but there have been instances of others taking up the Moon Knight mantle. An unnamed man fought as Moon Knight in ancient Egyptian times, and there have been at least two occasions where a woman has taken up the Moon Knight mantle - including in the Marvel future 2099.

Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood is the latest in a series of black-and-white-and-color-accented Marvel Comics anthologies subtitled 'Black, White, and Blood' - following the previous series for Deadpool, Wolverine, Carnage, and Elektra. The trend has even included DC, with color-coded anthologies including Wonder Woman: Black & Gold, Superman: Red & Blue, and Harley Quinn: Black + Red + White. 

Disney Plus' Moon Knight concluded its six-episode first season on May 4. Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood #1 (of 4) goes on sale on May 11.
