Moody first poster unveiled for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

The first poster for Kenneth Branagh’s action thriller Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit has been unveiled.

A surprisingly muted, moody affair, it shows Chris Pine as the eponymous CIA anaylst in contemplative action pose.

If you look closely, you can just glimpse the outline of the Kremlin behind him - fitting considering much of the film is said to take place in Russia.

Based on the series of books by Tom Clancy, who sadly passed away just yesterday , Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit follows the covert CIA agent as he goes up against Russian terrorists who are plotting to crash the US economy.

Hot off his Kirk gig on Star Trek Into Darkness , Pine is the fourth actor to play Ryan on-screen after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.

The character previously appeared in The Hunt For Red October , Patriot Games , Clear And Present Danger and The Sum Of All Fears .

Also starring Kevin Costner and Keira Knightley, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opens in the UK on 26 December 2013.
