Listen to a track from Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL's Batman v Superman score

Hans Zimmer is no stranger to superhero blockbuster fare; indeed, the prolific composer is perhaps most famous for scoring Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and having developed his own Batman theme over three movies, it makes perfect sense that he collaborated with former protégé and Mad Max: Fury Road composer Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

While Zimmer focused on evolving his Superman themes from Man of Steel, Junkie XL was tasked with creating new music for Batman. We can hear the first fruits of their labour in the 90 second preview below...

The 90 second clip - taken from "Their War Here", the second track on the score - is powerful and energetic, but it doesn't sound too dissimilar from Zimmer's work in Man of Steel. That's perfectly fine at this stage; the music fans will be most interested to hear is Junkie XL's new theme for Ben Affleck's Batman, and Warner Bros. would do well to keep that under wraps for at least a little while longer.

In addition to the track preview, Warner Bros. have also seen fit to release the full tracklist for the Batman v Superman score which will be available digitally, on CD, 2-disc deluxe CD, and on Limited Edition 3-disc deluxe vinyl on March 18, one week before the film is released in cinemas. Thankfully, the track names aren't too spoilery, but you might want to skip it if you're intent on going into the film as fresh as possible.
