No clue how the Baywatch movie got the idea that it has any right to actually be good, but here we are enjoying its first trailer. The new teaser sets up the buddy cop comedy of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who takes his lifeguard duty a bit too seriously, and Zac Efron, who does shots and rides his motorcycle off a pier. Oh, and they're not actually cops. But they won't let that stop them from running down a murder mystery that washes up on the sacred sands of their beach.
If you weren't sure whether Baywatch was willing to go into full parody mode on its (in)famous TV source material, that slow-motion joke should help you put aside any doubts.
Baywatch is directed by Seth Gordon, and it stars Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, and Zac Efron. It's slated to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar.
