All Arc Raiders Augments and what they do
Here's a rundown of every Augment you can equip in Arc Raiders to boost your backpack
Arc Raiders Augments are a critical piece of gear for your loadout, with each one providing backpack space for various items and extra perks if you've got a really good one. Like a lot of gear in Arc Raiders, you can scavenge or craft Augments and even upgrade them to better marks. But with three broad types and several different rarities and version of each, all affecting your available inventory slots differently, it's difficult to know which one is right for you. With all that in mind, we've laid out everything you need to know about Augments in Arc Raiders below, including a full list and what the two new Augments do.
New Arc Raiders Augments
Two new Epic Augments have been added Arc Raiders, Tactical Mk. 3 (Revival) and Looting Mk.3 (Safekeeper), as part Headwinds, the first part of the the Arc Raiders' Escalation expansion. Both of them are reasonably useful too, with the Tactical Survivor Augment featuring an integrated Defibrillator, giving you free revives but on a 4-minute cooldown, while the Looting Safekeep Augment allows its sole Safe Pocket Slot to carry anything – that means you can store a weapon to avoid losing it if a round goes wrong. If you want more details on their stats, they've been added to the table below.
How Arc Raiders Augments work
The main purpose of an Augment is to bolster you inventory space through extra backpack slots and an increased weight limit. You'll find them just from general looting, whether that's rifling through containers or stealing them off dead players, but you can also find Arc Raiders blueprints for Augments and craft them.
Depending on the Augment type – Combat, Looting, or Tactical – you might also get more Quick-Use slots for items, Safe Pocket slots for preserving items after death (except for Arc Raiders weapons), and Augmented Slots for specific item types. Augments also determine the type of Shield you can use, with all Augments being compatible with a Light Shield but fewer being compatible with a Medium Shield, and even fewer being compatible with a Heavy Shield. Rare and Epic Augments also come with a perk that can add a really useful benefit for when you're out in the field.
In general, Combat Augments focus on good Shield compatibility and combat advantages at the cost of inventory space. Looting Augments focus on increasing inventory slots and weight limits at the cost of Shield compatibility. Finally, Tactical Augments focus on using items with more Quick-Use slots but feature the smallest backpacks and middling Shield compatibility. Ideally, you should have one of each so that you can switch between them depending on what you want to do during an Arc Raiders run – killing ARC? Battling other players? Just looting? Make sure you have the Augment that's going to help you the most.

Of course, there's also the Free Loadout Augment which you get whenever you opt for a free loadout. It has a weight limit of 35, 14 Backpack Slots, and four Quick-Use Slots, and that's it – far from good and it can't be removed or swapped during a round so you're stuck with it, but presumably you'll only opt to use it in the most dire situations anyway.
