Persona 6 hopefuls on high alert as Sega supposedly copyright strikes leaked screenshots of the unannounced JRPG: "The snipers are out"
Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase are right around the corner...
Sega has apparently issued copyright strikes against purported Persona 6 leaks that have been circulating across the internet for days, and some fans are now taking the DMCA notices as soft confirmation in the lead-up to Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase.
Persona 6 hasn't been officially revealed, but several convincing images allegedly showing off everything from character designs to the game's green logo recently hit the internet. As with any supposed leak in the modern era, there wasn't too much reason to believe the screenshots were legit, though some hopefuls are now on high alert after rights owner Sega scrubbed them from the internet.
A Twitterer who reposted the alleged logo and in-game art jumped online to saythat it was, in fact, Sega who sent a copyright strike: "Got a DMCA takedown request by SEGA, so that second image was in fact real and not AI generated."
"Well, that clears it. If they requested a take-down, it's probably real at this point," one fan writes over on the Persona subreddit. "Ok the snipers are out, that kinda proves it," another says.
But after a decade of being fed reheated Persona 5 nachos, not every series fan was convinced. "Maybe, but not neccesarily," a third fan argues. "Companies also sometimes take down leaks that get big because of the potential damage they can do (i.e. false expectations)." Hear, hear.
While leaks and the removal of leaks aren't confirmation of anything, it's clear that Atlus is cooking up more than just Persona 4 Revival for its demon-punching, high-schooling JRPG franchise. On the Persona 30th Anniversary website, the Persona 4 Revival announcement sits alongside three 'Coming Soon' boxes. Make of that what you will...
Last year, P-Studio head Kazuhisa Wada also said the developer had "several projects in development." What better time to announce Persona 6 than in 2026, which also happens to be the series' three-decade milestone, eh?

As for Persona 4 Revival, the remake recently got a new age rating that also raised hopes for its potential appearance at either tomorrow's Summer Game Fest show or Sunday's Xbox Games Showcase.
