How long it takes to beat Halo Campaign Evolved isn't that different from the 2001 original, taking the average player about 10 hours. However, this remake has a few extras that add a few hours its length, namely three bonus missions, as well as plenty of hidden Skulls and Terminals to collect. With that in mind, here are some estimations for how long Halo Campaign Evolved is based on how quickly and thoroughly you play.
How long is Halo Campaign Evolved?
The average playthrough for Halo Campaign Evolved is about 10 hours, but with things like difficulty, prior knowledge from the original, and collectibles to find, your completion time is affected by many factors:
- Main campaign: 8-12 hours
- Main campaign + bonus missions: 10-14 hours
- 100% completion: 20+ hours
As mentioned, the core campaign – that's the 10 main missions from The Pillar of Autumn to The Maw – should take you 10 hours, give or take a couple. If you're charging through each mission on Easy difficulty or have played the classic Halo Combat Evolved already, you may even be able to get through it much faster. Conversely if you're committing to a Heroic or Legendary playthrough, plenty of deaths will add up to a couple of extra hours.
The Operation Meteorite campaign, comprising three prequel missions featuring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson, adds a couple more hours of story content, but you should still get through the whole thing in under 15 hours. I completed all 13 missions on Heroic difficulty in about 13 hours, having also played Combat Evolved a few times before.
Finally, for those that commit to finding all 39 Halo Campaign Evolved Skulls and all 13 Halo Campaign Evolved Terminals spread across each mission, you'll be spending several more hours replaying and scouring each level. If you're going for the Platinum Trophy too, there are plenty of tough challenges that will likely take you multiple attempts to complete, so don't expect a quick and easy walk in the park!
While the run time of the main campaign remains roughly the same. compared to the original game, there are many other Halo Campaign Evolved changes to be aware of.
