Tekken fan morale is already at an all-time low, but it looks like it's about to get worse as the series' most-requested guest character is rumored to be coming to Street Fighter 6 .
Since Bandai Namco started introducing guest fighters with Tekken 7 – well, Tekken 3 had farting dinosaur manga star Gon, but it became widespread with 7 – fans have had two characters in mind for the roster: Kazuma Kiryu and Tifa Lockheart. Kiryu fans are probably over it as the series' lead has said he doesn't want the Yakuza character fighting women (so much so that he doesn't attack your women party members in his Yakuza 7 bossfight), Tifa fans have had it rubbed in their faces as Final Fantasy stars Noctis and Clive have made the DLC rosters of Tekken 7 and 8.
And just as Tekken 8 fans have reached an all-time low with the disastrously received Season 2 patch and then the even worse Season 3 patch, rumors have emerged that Tifa Lockheart will finally be returning to fighting games… in Street Fighter 6.
Article continues belowOver a month ago on the Street Fighter subreddit, user RnK_Clan claimed (spotted by Wccftech) that the leaked info that Vega will be joining Street Fighter 6 Season 4 to tie in with the upcoming Street Fighter movie is legit, and that he'll be joined by Tifa, Final Fight's Mike Haggar, and Street Fighter 4's Gouken. While this went somewhat under the radar at the time, many realized that this was the same user who accurately named the game's Season 2 roster, which included the unexpected guest characters Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury.
Rooflemonger – well known fighting game community (FGC) YouTube creator – added to this earlier this week saying: "Heard about Tifa and Vega quite some time ago, yep! The other 2? I actually heard 2 other names besides them so who even knows what's real cause I sure don't!" Rooflemonger speculates that Capcom may have sent some fake names out to weed out leakers.
I could definitely see Haggar and Gouken being fake names. Ken and Ryu's mentor Gouken was already super old when Street Fighter 4 took place, and given that Street Fighter 6 is the latest point in the timeline, he's probably not kicking about. As for Haggar, there's a massive statue of the former mayor of Metro City in the game's World Tour mode, and the "Mike Haggar Memorial Arena," seemingly implies he's also dead in the series' canon. I mean, I love Haggar so I wouldn't complain, even if I'm a bit weary after what they did to my GOAT Alex.
