Ready or Not star cast as Emma Frost in MCU X-Men movie
Samara Weaving is now the second confirmed X-Men MCU actor
Samara Weaving has officially been cast as Emma Frost in the first standalone MCU X-Men movie... and this is perfect, if I do say so myself.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier met with "a number of candidates" and "landed on Weaving earlier this week." Neither Marvel nor Weaving has commented just yet.
Emma Frost has similar powers to those of Jean Grey by way of telepathy and mind control in addition to superhuman strength. Frost was initially introduced as a mutant supervillain before eventually joining and teaming up with the X-Men. Because the X-Men haven't even been formed yet in the MCU (and we can infer that the standalone X-Men movie will focus on the formation of the team as the mutants enroll at the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters), it's likely that Emma will be introduced as a villain rather than jumping ahead and skipping over a few comic book arcs.
Weaving is perhaps best known for starring in Ready or Not as the most badass final girl in a blood-soaked wedding dress, and recently kicked butt in Over Your Dead Body and Carolina Caroline. A horror-action star being cast as Emma Frost is a boss move on Marvel's part. She's also the second X-Men member to be cast in the MCU... but we'll let you figure out who that might be.
X-Men is eyeing a tentative 2028 release date. You can keep up to date with everything the MCU has in store with our guide to all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows.
