Netflix's new erotic thriller Vladimir hasn't exactly set pulses racing on the streamer – according to the early viewing figures, anyway.
According to data obtained by What's on Netflix, the Rachel Weisz-starring series has only accrued a little over 4 million views in its first four days.
But given the talent involved – Jessica Henwick and Ellen Robertson also star – and a buzzy premise, Vladimir must go down as a disappointment for Netflix. Those who have watched it aren't impressed either, with the limited series only earning a 58% score with viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.
Based on the Julia May Jonas book of the same name, Vladimir sees Weisz playing M., a literature professor embroiled in professional and personal scandal after the revelation of her husband John (John Slattery) having inappropriate relationships with students. The sudden arrival of the married Vladimir (Leo Woodall) to the faculty re-ignites M.'s passion for love and literature – with explosive results.
