It sounds as though The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has a few more surprises up its sleeve as star and self-confessed Mario super-fan Brie Larson teases more Easter eggs.
"When I watched the movie, it was almost just like this sensory overload of like everything I've ever loved and played and watched throughout my whole life," said Larson in an interview with Fandango. "I just felt like bombarded by all the references, and every single frame is just filled with references." Larson joins the sequel as the mother of the Lunas, Rosalina, from the Super Mario Galaxy games.
We have already had a sneak peek at some of the cameos and references coming up in the new animated sequel thanks to teasers and trailers. After adding Donald Glover as Yoshi, Larson as Rosalina, and Benny Safdie as Bowser to the cast list, it has also been revealed that other characters, such as Mouser and Wart, are set to make an appearance. Plus, fans think that we may even see BOB the robot and Star Fox, too.
But, according to Larson, there is more to come. "You have all of these incredible planets in the game that you travel to that you will get to see in the movie as well, which made me so proud because I know every detail of this game. And so to see the way that they honored each part of it while also honoring like all of these character stories and this like larger vision for it," said Larson. "There's nothing in this that doesn't have a purpose and meaning."
On top of that, fans can also expect to see a big bad from Super Mario Galaxy. "For people who love the game and the honeybee planet, the boss level is this big honeybee, and she does make an appearance," added Larson. "It made me cackle. I was like, 'Oh my god.' So, I was really happy about that."
Original stars are returning, too, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.
