Doug Liman talks Tom Cruise defying expectations in Edge Of Tomorrow

In issue 220 of Total Film magazine , director Doug Liman reveals that Tom Cruise defies expectations with his new film, time-loop sci-fi Edge Of Tomorrow .

Inside the issue - which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad - Liman admits that it was tricky to come up with a role that Cruise hadn't already played.

"The world has seen every single movie Tom Cruise has ever done, so to come up with a character he hasn't played before..." the director says.

"He's like a total coward in this movie!"

Tom Cruise playing a coward? That's definitely something we haven't seen before. We can't wait to see how else Edge Of Tomorrow will surprise us when it hits cinemas in the UK on 30 May.
