WWE 2K18 roster adds Alexa Bliss, TJP and the best tag-team you’ve never heard of

Wrestling and hyperbole go hand-in-hand, but it's no exaggeration to say that this week's WWE 2K18 roster update is the most exciting in years. Yes, I wrote years.

Sure, it adds names long expected, such as reigning Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, long-time internet faves Kevin Owens and Finn Balor, and yesteryear legends such as Ric Flair and Razor Ramon. But it's in the realm of series debutants where you're being really spoiled: ten in total, including a super-talented Aussie team the average fan won't have heard of.

The duo in question is TM-61, AKA Nick Miller and Shane Thorne. Known as The Mighty Don't Kneel before signing for WWE in 2016, they've only had five matches in the company, and not been seen on TV since Thorne suffered a serious knee injury in January. The fact they're still included is a sign of real eye for detail on developer Yuke's part, and should be commended.

Joining TM-61 in the series for the first time are Rick Martel; Tommaso Ciampa; Johnny Gargano; Akam & Rezar, AKA The Authors Of Pain; TJP; Cedric Alexander (above);  and Roderick Strong.

Returning after featuring in at least one previous game are Apollo Crews; Asuka; Big Cass; Carmella; Chad Gable; Chris Jericho; Dana Brooke; Fabulous Freebirds; Jacqueline; Jason Jordan, Lex Luger; Mick Foley; Mr Perfect; Neville; Nia Jax; Randy Savage; The Revival; Rick Rude; Ricky Steamboat; Rikishi; Rusev; Samoa Joe; Tye Dillinger; and Vader.

Our ongoing gallery profiling every wrestler revealed for the game so far, including more new faces such as Akira Tozawa and Sanity, will be updated imminently.

WWE 2K18 is out on October 17.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
