Activision and Hasbro are linking forces to translate the Transformers Prime cartoon into a new “action brawler” for Wii and 3DS.
Based on the Daytime Emmy Award-winning CGI show, Transformers Prime will cast players as members of Team Prime and task them with saving the world from Megatron and his yet-to-be-revealed “secret weapon”. Playable characters will include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet, and Bulkhead. Humans Jack, Miko, and Raf will also make an appearance.
“We are collaborating closely with the series creators to capture all the adventure, humor and friendships from the show to create an authentic action experience for Transformers fans of all ages to enjoy.,” David Oxford, Activision Publishing's executive vp.
What? No hamfisted “More than meets the eye” references? Sometimes it feels like they just aren't trying anymore.
Transformers Prime is being developed by Japanese developer NowPro (Little League World Series Baseball), and will be out later this year as a Nintendo exclusive. A DS version is also in the works from Altron Corporation (Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition). Stay up to date with newest Transformers project on the official website.
