Sleeping Dogs Year of the Snake DLC confirmed

Officer Wei Shen will take down a doomsday cult in the latest DLC for Sleeping Dogs, Square Enix confirmed today. Year of the Snake will follow Shen as he (spoiler alert) unravels the case in his new role with the Hong Kong Police Department immediately after the events of the game.

"A vicious end-of-the-world cult is taking root in the back streets of Hong Kong... the Cult of the Snake," the official description reads. "Hell-bent on cleansing the city of its evils, they cannot be negotiated with as they pursue a path to their righteous salvation."

Shen will pick up a few new weapons befitting of his uniformed role, including tear gas launchers and tasers, as well as new abilities and outfits. Hopefully nobody recognizes him as that Triad guy who was mowing down pedestrians in a moped a few weeks ago.

Square Enix also revealed plans for an upcoming Wheels of Fury pack, which will outfit Wei Shen with a "weaponized supercar." The DZS-90 will receive continual upgrades and additions as players progress through the content, sounding like an automotive mirror of Shen's own upgradeable path through the main game.

Year of the Snake and Wheels of Fury will arrive within the next three months, as well as several smaller scale outfit and weaponry packs. Further out, developer United Front Games appears to be hiring for a next-gen project with multiplayer aspects.
