Sea of Thieves error codes and the beard-themed issues, from Bronzebeard to Kiwibeard, can be a consequence of everything from bugs to server issues to connection problems and more besides. Some of these things have easy fixes, others will require a bit more work, and few you won't be able to do anything about - because it's not you that needs to fix them. Regardless, those Beard messages do have meaning, so if you have an error code in Sea of Thieves coming up, we'll explain w

Sea of Thieves beard error codes can appear for a multitude of reasons. Regardless, your first port of call should be to check your own internet connection and whether or not the Sea of Thieves servers are down, either due to technical issues or maintenance. Restarting the game, your PC, or your Xbox console may also resolve some issues.

If those aren't successful, then here are all the error codes in Sea of Thieves - listed alphabetically - and their causes, as well as all available information on how fix them.

Alabasterbeard, Almondbeard and Cyanbeard error codes

If you get either the Alabasterbeard, Almondbeard or Cyanbeard error code, it likely means you have a dodgy internet setup and your connection to Xbox Live or Sea of Thieves’ servers has been lost. Make sure your internet is working, then try again.

Ashbeard error code

The Ashbeard error code in Sea of Thieves means that you’re either not signed into Xbox Live, or your Xbox Live status isn’t connected. Try signing out, then signing back in, and attempting to play Sea of Thieves again.

Avocadobeard error code

The Avocadobeard error code means that you're missing some essential permission or subscription service. An Xbox Live Gold membership is needed to play Sea of Thieves, so get this message and it’s probably a warning that your membership has run out (it could also apply to PSPlus).

Beigebeard error code

A simple one, the Beigebeard error code means that Sea of Thieves needs an update and can't be played until that's resolved. Quit the game from the console dashboard, check for an update and download, then restart the game - it should be functional now.

Bronzebeard error code

The Bronzebeard error code means that Sea of Thieves can't connect you to the server for some reason, likely due to issues at the other end. If that happens, your only solution is to entirely close the game and start again in the hope of that fixing it.

Cinnamonbeard error code

The Cinnamonbeard error code is basically the same as Bronzebeard above - to all intents and purposes, both the issue and the fix is the same. Quit Sea of Thieves, and reboot it again entirely from scratch. If that doesn't work, repeat the process again until you get lucky.

Daffodilbeard error code

Daffodilbeard is an issue with Sea of Thieves, not with you - meaning that there's some problem with their servers and you'll have to wait for them to be fixed before you can play again. Try checking their Twitter feed for up-to-date information.

Fluffybeard error code

Although the Fluffybeard error code is usually reserved for playtests, if it does pop up it means that the servers have been taken down for an update. Sit patiently and they should be back up soon.

Kiwibeard error code

The Kiwibeard error code in Sea of Thieves likely means that the servers are closed for one reason or another. It can also potentially mean that you have multiple Gamertags signed in on your console - try signing everyone out, and then sign one back in again. You should be able to play Sea of Thieves now.

Lapisbeard error code

Lapisbeard is rather like Daffodilbeard in that it's some unspecified technical error - and that you've likely got no other recourse than to wait for Rare and Xbox to resolve it soon. Check their Twitter output and hope Sea of Thieves will be back online soon.

Lavenderbeard error code

The Lavenderbeard error code can be caused by anti-virus or firewall settings, as well as proxy servers and various other network management manipulation or tools. Check the appropriate settings on your firewalls and anti-virus software, and attempt again.

Lazybeard error code

The Lazybeard error code is, appropriately enough, a consequence of having been idle for too long. Being "AFK" in Sea of Thieves automatically has you kicked from the server after a while, and if that happens then you get the Lazybeard error message.

Lightbiegebeard error code

A Lightbiegebeard error code is the consequence of a mismatch of game versions - meaning that you probably need to ensure that you have the latest version of the game downloaded and all updates installed, similar to the Biegebeard message above.

Marblebeard error code

Marblebeard is a general error that occurs when trying to join or rejoin a multiplayer server, only for some error in the connection. Depending on the state of affairs, this could be either at your end - a router or connection issue - or it could be server maintenance. Check the official Twitter to see if it's the latter, and reset your internet if not.
