New Assassin's Creed film stills show Michael Fassbender in the past & the present

2016 is a big year for video game adaptations; In addition to Duncan Jones' CGI epic Warcraft, we'll also be seeing Michael Fassbender in action in Assassin's Creed. We haven't heard much from the latter, but while we wait for the first trailer 20th Century Fox have unveiled a couple of stills (via Omelette) from the highly anticipated movie.

Check them out below...

While the first photo shows Fassbender in his present day guise as Callum Lynch, the other shows the actor wielding a spear as Lynch's 15th century Spanish ancestor Aguilar. Neither image reveals much that we didn't already know but they do serve to underline the dark tone director Justin Kurzel is going for. With X-Men: Apocalypse due out later this month, it's probably a safe bet that our first look at Assassin's Creed will be attached to it.

Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson, Assassin's Creed opens in US theatres on December 21, 2016 before being released in UK cinemas on December 26, 2016.
