Loads More Top Guests Announced for the SFX Weekender

Paul Cornell and authors Ben Aaronovitch, Joe Abercrombie, David Moody, Sarah Pinborough, Andy Remic and David Wingrove are joining us in Camber Sands

It may have turned awfully nippy all of a sudden, but fear not because SFX is on hand to warm the cockles with news of not one, but seven new and returning guests confirmed to attend the SFX Weekender 2 in Camber Sands.

First up: Mr Paul Cornell : the recently crowned Action Comics scribe who might be better known to readers of SFX for his work on Doctor Who (in particular ace spin-off novel/two part season three episode “Human Nature”/“The Family Of Blood”). Comics fans have every reason to be just as excited though, because in recent months Paul’s made a big splash at DC with his impressive Lex Luthor-centric run on Action Comics . Paul is also working with Stan Lee and Javier Pina at BOOM! studios on new IP Soldier Zero and if his appearance at last year’s event is anything to go by any panel with Paul’s name on the list will be one not to miss.

Fellow- Who brethren Ben Aaronvitch has also thrown his name into the hat – the author responsible for classic Seventh Doctor tale “Remembrance Of The Daleks”, several spin-off adventure books and novels. Joe Abercrombie might not have a background in Doctor Who , but the thoroughly nice fantasy author has been making a big name for himself in recent years by breathing new life into the genre with his The First Law trilogy. Joe was a big hit at the first Weekender so we’re delighted to announce he’ll be returning to participate in Q&As, a book signing, panels and just generally hanging round and being cool. Fans of Joe Abercrombie also mark off the 28th January in your diaries because SFX will be co-hosting the launch of his latest novel, The Heroes , at Toppings bookshop in Bath.

Moving on, we’re delighted to announce that Hater creator (snarf) David Moody , will be joining us for the weekend long sci-fi spectacular, where the Dog Blood and Autumn series author will no doubt find a warm reception. The same goes for British horror writer Sarah Pinborough , winner of the British Fantasy Award for best novella in 2010 and author (most recently) of the exceptional A Matter Of Blood .

Fans of no-nonsense science fiction and fantasy also take note as Kell’s Legend and Quake author Andy Remic has confirmed he’ll be joining in the fun while finally (for now) we’re thrilled to confirm that Chung Kuo and Myst trilogy author David Wingrove will be participating in a panel and book signing session.
