Jason Momoa responds to all those Aquaman jokes: "just wait"

While even non comic-book fans can easily get behind the idea of Batman v Superman, poor old Aquaman often comes in for some fish-related mockery. However, Jason Momoa has urged audiences to give the character a chance before writing him off as a joke…

“You know, it’s cute and funny,” said Momoa during an appearance at Fan Expo Canada. “I mean people make fun of him and there’s a bunch of jokes about him. But I’m like 'Well… just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit. And then we can make jokes…'”

As for what we can expect from the character, Momoa rejects the idea that he’ll be the comic relief to his more established co-stars. “I can’t see me busting out a bunch of jokes,” says the star, before acknowledging that Aquaman will also be a far cry from Khal Drogo. “I don’t think Aquaman’s going to be raping and pillaging any villages.”

Just how much we’ll see of Aquaman in Batman v Superman remains to be seen, although the general understanding is that it will be a brief cameo appearance before the character is truly given a chance to shine in his own solo movie. Batman v Superman lands on March 25 2016 before Aquaman hits our screens on July 27 2018.
