With 'bingeing Daredevil season two' at the top of many to-do lists this weekend, it won't be long before we're in desperate need of a season three rumor fix. While this is far from being set in stone, Charlie Cox is already thinking about Matt Murdock's next adversary. Here's a hint: we saw him in the 2003 movie.
"If we are fortunate enough to continue making the Daredevil series, I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point," Cox tells Screen Rant. "It would be great to have him around at some point."
"Who would play that part I have no idea but I just think there’s such an interesting, rich character there, and also of course, the history that Bullseye has with Karen Page is an interesting dynamic. When you read the comics it’s etched in a Daredevil memory all that stuff."
That history he refers to is... bleak, to say the least. If he is introduced, then let's hope his storyline doesn't stick too closely to the comics. And there's evidence to suggest he might already be part of Marvel's future plans: there's a Bullseye easter egg is tucked away in Daredevil season one. That was quickly followed by rumors of Jason Statham auditioning for the part, so maybe he was successful and Marvel are just keeping him back for a later season?
For Cox, though, there's another villain he'd like to see Matt face again in the future. The master criminal Wilson Fisk, who we last saw en route to jail. "I’d love us to explore more of the Wilson Fisk stuff. It’d be great if at some point Vincent D’Onofrio would come back for a season. There’s so much Daredevil-Wilson Fisk left untold. As he really came into his own, as Wilson Fisk turned into the Kingpin at the end of season one, I’d love to see what that now does to the Daredevil-Fisk dynamic going forward if we were to do a season 3 or 4."
Starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Elodie Yung, Stephen Rider, Jon Bernthal and Rosario Dawson, Daredevil season two is now streaming on Netflix. Go on, get watching!
