Borderlands

Borderlands is a very entertaining shooter and a rather bland RPG. It rewards dedication with new guns and new things to shoot at, which is all kinds of fun for players who enjoy MMO-style progression. But if its charm and depth hadn’t been abandoned so quickly, it may have been absolutely brilliant.

Borderlands lacks the charm of Fallout 3, Mass Effect, or Half-Life 2, but it does offer a crap-ton of ‘roided-out bandits, effed-up dog things, giant spider demons, and screeching pterodactyl beasts to shoot with a crap-ton of guns. And that’s really what it’s about – finding weapons and shooting things with them. You have to assign a skill point now and then, and there’s kind of a story, but those things ...

Never-before-seen enemies from the end of the game

We recently got some hands-on time with Borderlands, the hybrid shooter/RPG due out later this month. We played a massively power-leveled Lilith character in two of the game’s later areas: Old Haven and The Crimson Enclave. Old Haven is a ramshackle city setting, while the Crimson Enclave is the high-elevation fortress of the Crimson Lance. ...   » Read Full Borderlands preview

Borderlands’ concept is easy to get excited about: take first-person shooting, add role-playing elements, customizable vehicles and potentially millions of weapons, and our brains could very well hemorrhage. We recently had a chance to stop the bleeding by playing a bit of the game’s single-player and co-op modes, an experience that revealed four important facts - one for each of the game’s playable classes - about the wildly ambitous Borderlands. ...   » Read Full Borderlands preview

What makes Han Solo cool? Why does Mad Max excite us? What is it about Firefly that makes us want to sign up for the interplanetary mercenary lifestyle? It’s hard to say for sure, but the pull of a wild frontier, danger, excellent toys, and rich rewards make for irresistible TV, movies, and games. ...   » Read Full Borderlands preview

More guns than you can shake a barren planet at
Jan 24, 2008
The most exciting thing about Borderlands is that its very similar to the ‘80s space western cartoon BraveStarr. In fact, apart from the notable absence of Confederate little people in smocks and sentient, anthropomorphic robot horses, Borderlands is just like it - but with more extreme violence. The second most exciting thing about it is that its a little bit like the ill-fated Firefly TV series as well. With that in mind, let us ...   » Read Full Borderlands preview

The game was fun and cool, I beat it without too much trouble, however I am somewhat OCD about achievements. Could someone please tell me why there isn't any more online cheats for this game? I mean I have browsed a few cheat sites and have yet to find a walkthrough, or any more than the "hints" offered on this site. The big problem I'm having is with the "Scavanger" missions. I can find all but one piece of each weapon and then the last piece just isn't were the waypiont on the map designates it should be. The "Shut them down" mission I am having the same problem, except the waypionts tell you a location where you are supposed to activate these levers. I only found 2, and then there isn't a switch anywhere close to the next waypiont. Now I know I could spend 20 clams on a guidebook, but my OCD for achievements isn't that far out of hand yet. Please help!!!

it's a good game. Fallout is better of course but then again, fallout has less action it seems. sure there's a cool scenario once in a while but this game is all about action and guns. If I'm looking for a deep rpg, I'll play fallout. If I'm looking for some stupid-fun action, I'll play borderlands.

I wouldn't get so excited.....Borderlands is an RPG, and the complete lack of character customisation really puts me off....and I know it will others too.
Me? I'd rather stick to Fallout.

im not so sure bout that but it will have spliyscreen, online, and system link co-op. I also read there might be some kind of PvP(player vs Player) and some kind of 2 on 2 deathmatch type thing. All in all this game looks so awesome
