Splatterhouse screens are torture porn

Splatterhouse's slasher film references may have disappeared with the Friday The 13th Hockey mask of earlier games - now replaced with a skull design - but judging by these latest shots it's entering into that most extreme of horror genres, the torture porn.

Just to remind you - Splatterhouse centres around a man (Rick) who fights monsters with makeshift weapons including sharpened poles, wooden planks and meat cleavers and can perform spectacularly gory 'splatter kills' on downed enemies.

It's all very reminiscent of films like Saw and Hostel in its attention to body horror, blood and sinister locations (an abandoned fairground, for example). Like the films, it looks like being an acquired taste.

what stays with dead space? it makes no sense as dead space was released ages ago and these look to me to be the goriest things ive seen all year. hopefully it wont just be another Viking or just a repetitive game. might give it a look though, keep me going until someone makes a decent zombie game

I believe that the title still belongs and will stay with Dead Space

$76? where you buyin games at from my friend? Even a new $59.99 title is only $64 with tax, at least where I live. Been waiting on this game for awhile, love the gore, but will have to wait on a review before I make the final choice on this one.

Agreed... Looks to be based purely on shock value, definitely not worth $76 (roughly)... Should be a PSN download for $10, I still wouldn't buy it, but at least that would seem more worthwhile. Who knows though, it's only early on, may be a great game... heh... yea...

Looks a bit crap to me, each to their own I suppose.
