Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is due to deploy next week, and Capcom is luring fans to the fold with the promise of free post-launch DLC on April 10. More than just a change of clothes and weapon skins, the add-on will include an extra mission wherein players control members of the game's Spec-Op faction in a recreation of the famous Resident Evil 3 scene that finds Jill Valentine on the run from the game's chief baddie, Nemesis.
The extra mission will be unique in that it will give Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City players a chance to ditch the campaign's main faction, the Umbrella Security Service (USS), and learn more about the Echo Six Special Operations soldiers who have also been sent in to bring order to the infected city.
Those soldiers were show striking new poses in a recent Capcom blog update (authored by a familiar GR veteran). They include Crispin “Dee-Ay” Jettingham, leader of the Echo Six team; Erez “Harley” Morris, the squad's medic and former badass biker; Sienna “Party Girl” Fowler, the squad's prerequisite sex symbol; Lawrence “Shona” Kimbala, the Army's premier virology expert; Marissa “Tweed” Ronson, Echo Six's demolitions gal; and Caroline “Willow” Floyd, a master of reconnaissance. See them all in our gallery above.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City recounts the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis through the perspective the aforementioned Spec-Ops clan, the USS and, in some small part, the bio-organic weapons (BOWs) they've been sent in to deal with. Read our preview of the multiplayer's Nemesis mode, and look for the game to arrive for PS3 and Xbox on March 20 in North America, and March 23 in the UK. The PC version is on track to follow on May 18.
