QOTW: What was your favorite E3 2009 moment?

Every week the hosts of TalkRadar present and answer a new "Question of the Week" - a personal inquiry which unearths some of our deepest, and sometimes most sinister, gaming memories. Everyone is encouraged to answer each week's question, so go ahead, tell us your most glorious, nostalgic, or shameful story!

This week's question:

What was your favorite moment at E3?

The biggest gaming show of the year isn't over quite yet, but the three biggest conferences have already come and gone. So what was your favorite moment? Best announcement? Most awkward presenter? Did your favorite company meet your expectations? Tell us what you thought!

Answer this week's question in the comments!

Questions can also be answered in the QOTW forum thread. Our favorite posts this week will be read next week on TalkRadar 55, and appear in the next edition of this article. Listen to TalkRadar 54 tomorrow for our answers!

Last week's question:

What big reveal do you most want to see at E3?

Thanks again for the epic participation! There were a lot of great responses, and a lot of them mimicked the GR team's personal desires. Now that the expo is half-way over, we're starting to see if any of our wishes came true. For the most, not exactly. Half-Life 3? Not yet. New Zelda? Kind of - it'll be announced next year. Halo 4, Gears of War 2, Portal 2? Keep waiting. But we did see a lot of great stuff (Left 4 Dead 2, Halo Reach, FFXIII and XIV, Crackdown 2, Mario Galaxy 2, God of War III, Paul and Ringo looking simultaneously awkward and aloof...), so keep your chins up!

Below are a few of last week's answers that tickled our collective fancies, but since we can't feature them all here, check out last week's article and forum thread for more...

"J Allard comes on stage and proves that Microsoft actually own apple and the whole Ipod and Zune thing was a practical joke."

Sorry fivedollahfootlong, Zunes are serious business.

"I require a full-blown Pokemon RPG on the Wii that totally breaks the mould. That means no starting with either a grass, fire or water Pokemon like in EVERY OTHER GAME. Failing that, a Katamari game set in Hawaii."

Not even the Norwegian King of Names can make Nintendo fulfill our deepest desires. But you do get Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M. METROID! We actually didn't know there was another 'M.' Thought there was only room in the alphabet for one.

"I want to see more of Dark Void. That game looks epic. I want to see Half Life 3 announced. And I know it's a very, very long shot, but I would absolutely love anyone who was willing to pick up Duke Nukem Forever and finish the damn thing. Because I want to play it."

Dark Void, Half-Life 3, Duke Nukem Forever...why couldn't you have just been easy-to-please and said "Yeah, I want more fitness games and, I don't know, maybe some goofy motion-sensing mini-games"?

Above: Will Duke Nukem Forever live again? Seems unlikely...

"My wish isn't necessarily a game, but an accessory. I want M$ to announce a 250GB HDD for the 360. And possibly a... oh i dunno... a $50 price drop on the wireless adapter?"

"More info on Uncharted 2 and Assasins Creed 2"

Well, weren't you easy to please? Both trailers looked amazing.

"A Nintendo that doesn't blow chunks. Give us a proper Wii controller, not a chunk of suck. I'd also like to see the PS3 get a huge price drop. Make a PS3 arcade or something. i don't care, but i'm not buying a game console that costs $600 unless it cures cancer, or makes me breakfast, or fights crime. I want a PS3 that fights crime...Yeah."

Big dreams, SunshineHobo. By the way, the PS3 is down to $400. But we do like the idea of a crime fighting console.

Unoriginal wrote...
"I am getting tired of all the sequels and spin-offs. I want a bunch of fresh, orginal and new IP. A new Zelda, Halo 4 and the bi-monthly Sonic release are all as predictable as the sunrise.."

Ironic that someone named "Unoriginal" would want new IPs. Sorry, LA is spin-off city. But new Zelda will be properly announced next year, so there's that!

Watching Sony and MS fanboys go spaz on each other trying to prove which motion controller is the best.
  • MGS4SolidSnake - June 3, 2009 7:35 p.m.

it depends on what happens...if all the sweet new psp games go to the original umb as well as the new one then it will have to be all those sweet games, mgs, assasins creed, LBP, gran turismo
  • Caio - June 3, 2009 7:35 p.m.

They were three, actually. First, watching the PS3 fanboys scream in despair as MGS Rising was announced for the 360. Then, watching Microsoft and Sony beat each other to death in an attempt to recreate the motion technologies their fanboys love to bitch about on the Wii. And finally, Metroid: Other M. Brought tears to my eyes.

Damn it, my favourite E3 moment WASN'T this year!! It was definitely that Jack Sony guy nervously wandering about the stage, broken-voicedly talking about the same subjects that he's just been over thinking "Why did I spill coffee over my lines? Why did I spill coffee over my lines? Why did I spill.... Although if I'm pressed for an answer it was Microsoft completely owning Sony, with a creepy Peter Molyneux designed kid named Milo who can pretend to care about your "feelings", but can secretly see you naked beneath your clothes. Molyneux's got a camera there too. Sony is receding into a corner of E3, mumbling dark threats to Microsoft under it's breath.
  • jimmeroo - June 3, 2009 9:16 p.m.

Mine is the golden sun ds announcement. that was even epic how reggie announced it. "After going dark for six years...."
  • jamminontha1n2 - June 3, 2009 9:50 p.m.

woot i got my answer in the article. my favorite reveal was crackdown 2. microsoft you made it happen. great job.
  • RebornKusabi - June 3, 2009 9:58 p.m.

Mine was the announcement for MOTHER****ING CRACKDOWN 2! Oh, and I guess the new Metroid is kinda cool, but I'm really hesitant on this one due to Team Ninja's involvement...
  • zymn - June 3, 2009 10:19 p.m.

seeing that footage of Uncharted 2. sure, Assassin's Creed 2 looks awesome, but AS2 didn't make me say "HOLY CRAP!" out loud numerous times. it's like a MOVIE for god's sake!
  • skyguy343 - June 3, 2009 10:47 p.m.

  • winterwolf - June 3, 2009 10:51 p.m.

Metroid: Other M, definitely. Golden Sun DS was a big one too. Was hoping to say next Zelda, but of course it was a no show...
  • Reaper9324 - June 3, 2009 10:53 p.m.

when microsoft never mentioned exclusive in the MGS:Rising announcement. GOOD TIMES
  • Amaster - June 3, 2009 10:55 p.m.

Hmm, probably that at Nintento's conference not only did they show trailers to some of the more hardcore Wii games, like DS: Extraction and The Conduit, but also announced not one, but two new Mario games and a new Metroid. Throw in the Wii-Motion Plus confirmed Zelda from Miyamoto's round-table, and this is looking like a good year to be a Nintendo fan.
  • kibblesworth - June 3, 2009 11:06 p.m.

I personally enjoyed nothing more than Carrie walking of stage. She walked back on again, but a decent game had been announced by then which stemmed my irritation. Other than that I loved that Microsoft released a motion sensor control, secured some awesome exclusives, showed a avatar based racing game, and a music service and better video watching system. And then Sony went totally revolutionary - they released a motion sensor control secured some awesome exclusives, showed a avatar based racing game, and a music service and better video watching system. Still with the pulse detector I think Nintendo were fairly confident in their ability to stay ahead of the curve...
  • Defguru7777 - June 3, 2009 11:16 p.m.

Golden Sun DS. The first two were some of my favorite games ever. And the announcement was so unexpected. Hoooooorrrraaaayyyy!!!!!
  • Samael - June 4, 2009 1:43 a.m.

The Star Wars: Old Republic trailer. I'm on the verge of just canceling my WoW account already.
  • somerandomchap - June 4, 2009 5:25 a.m.

no more heroes 2 info that i can drool over for the next few months
  • Awesomeitude1523 - June 4, 2009 9:38 a.m.

NINTENDO AND PSP GREW SOME BALLS!!! Wasn't expecting that!! I expected Nintendo to shovel out the usual crap, and for the PSP Go to fade into unpopularity and out of the public eye. Surprise, Surprise they pull off csomething cool. Also, being able to study for my finals while watching E3 on this site. Thanks guys for teaching me E3 is more important than studying.
  • infern0 - June 4, 2009 10:43 a.m.

every moment with reggie in it
  • DoctorGordonFreeman - June 4, 2009 2:01 p.m.

I'd have to say either the beatles FREAKING rockband (activision is dead. they will be revived with dj hero, and guitar hero will blow up.) or Left 4 dead....2. Man when i saw left 4 dead 2 trailer i litterally began to sob.
