PSN going offline for maintenance on June 25

Planned maintenance will pull PlayStation Network offline for about eight hours on June 25. Sony today announced on the PlayStation Blog that the offline period will extend from 9:30 a.m. PDT to about 4:00 p.m.

During that time, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management will be unavailable. Note that online multiplayer for PS3 and PS Vita will still be accessible if you sign on to PSN between now and the beginning of maintenance (of course, you'll only be able to play with the limited pool of other people who took similar precautions).

Sony plans to put out a new version of PS3 Firmware 4.45 on June 27--the patch adds trophy notification options and general system optimizations, and may even refrain from soft-bricking systems this time.

well, lets cross our fingers that the old adage 'you get what you pay for' means something to sony ;) i would love to see it equal or surpass live. most of my friends stuck with sony this gen (we were all ps1, ps2 guys), it would be nice to play with them again! :D

A minor inconvenience considering that compared to the XBOX, Sony has saved us more than the price of a new PS3 at launch. PSN is free and i am glad that they continue caring enough to make improvements

the shittiness of free psn was not 'a minor inconvenience'. it completely made me abandon any thoughts of using it for multiplayer games. kind of a big deal, imo. it CONSTANTLY signed me out of my profile for NO reason in the middle of games. completely unacceptable for me, sorry. and the store...oh my god the store. i use wireless for both my 360 and ps3, and the difference was night and day (and yes, i payed for the 360, totally worth it). i do agree with you that it seems sony is paying attention to this, and making the new ps+ basically mandatory seems like they're admitting the ps3's internet shortcomings, regardless of people trying to brush it off as no big deal.

PSN is down way too often. I hope Sony gets things together with the PS4. The network experience with the PS3 was certainly a mediocre experience.
