Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands opening cinematic released

Though we enjoyed 2008's Prince of Persia reboot, The Forgotten Sands' return to the last generation's storyline is highly welcome. The game (referring to its 360, PS3, and PC versions... the Wii version is something else entirely) takes place sometime between The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within. After his first adventure, The Prince visits his brother's kingdom, which supposedly holds Some Great Secret. Never far from conflict, he arrives just in time to witness the kingdom's defense of a cataclysmic siege. And that's exactly what the opening cinematic, released today, presents:

The Prince's likeness is somewhere between his threatening-in-a-safe-way Sands of Time portrayal and his I'm-totally-dark-and-stuff-take-me-seriously Warrior Within persona. To us, he seems sheepish, as if a poorly-phrased remark at a sensitive moment might cause tears well up in his soft, sad eyes and roll down his face, which itself seems to apologize for existing. But The Prince's sensitive side ignored, the cinematic is fully entertaining, is it not? We're a little pumped - fingers crossed that the game delivers on all fronts.

Has anyone seen any gameplay footage?? It looks boring as hell! The combat looks decidedly ropey and you can't even block. However, I could be jumping the gun here so will reserve definitive mad rambling judgements until it comes out. But seriously, sooooo ropey.

meh, i've seen better. The voice doesn't match the Prince. It sounds like the Green Ranger or some other charming yet brooding hero out there. Guy with the metal mask is a bad ass though.

Why is the Prince so ugly?? Those beady little eyes will haunt me through the entire game... BUT I absolutely love the Sands of Time trilogy, so nothing will deter me from playing this.

See that guy with the golden mask? I can already forsee an ultra irritating boss battle where he spanks you repeatedly with strong unblockable sword attacks. I hate him already. And yes, the Prince does look like he's about to cry.

@JamesT - It's not just you. He looks...off to me too. I think part of it is hearing the SOT voice come out of this new (weird) face.

@Skykid Actually, though the game is being released in conjunction with the film, it isn't and adaptation of the film.

Lets hope its much better than the movie, because its a rarity to have a good game based off a movie And by the way, FIRST ONE B*TCHES!
