Mark Wahlberg confirmed to play Nathan Drake in Uncharted movie

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that he will be playing the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Sony Pictures Entertainment’s movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The news is sure to disappoint fans of Firefly star Nathan Fillion, who recently expressed interest in playing the role of Drake.

In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Walhberg confirmed that director David O. Russell has started work on the script. "David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with," said Wahlberg. "The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer."

Walhberg also confirmed rumors that O. Russell wants to cast Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro. “That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro],” said Wahlberg.

When asked how Pesci and De Niro would fit into the storyline, Wahlberg said, “I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.”

Well I didn't really like Jake being the Prince in the Prince of Persia movie but that's a low point compared to the fact that that movie was all over the place.

Anybody other than Nathan Fillion = FAIL. Say hello to your mother for me!
  • NanoElite666 - November 25, 2010 6:31 a.m.

Still don't think we need this movie...
  • Synchronatic - November 25, 2010 6:22 a.m.

Fuck this. I mean, he's not a bad actor or anything, but Nathan Drake IS Nathon Fillion. FUCK!
  • Turboash - November 25, 2010 5:17 a.m.

So much for Drake having a personality...

@HumorTumor Do you know what effigy means?
  • ConVito - November 25, 2010 4:29 a.m.

Jesus christ. David O. Russell has trolled us and he fucking knows it. He's laughing at us because he knows the movie will blow and it'll still make tons of cash.

This is so fucking wrong. I can't believe they would screw up the perfect fit for a role for some hollywood twit. This role is not right for Marky Mark, he just doesn't have the charisma. It seems the people who make the films will never learn to pick who is right over who will get them a bigger headline. If only we could actually object to this and have it matter. I won't be seeing this movie now, but I know people will go out to see it. I hope it crashes and burns in effigy.
  • BleedingHatMcGillicutty - November 25, 2010 1:40 a.m.

Fuck that. He doesn't fit the role at all. There needs to be a petition to get Fillion the part. Not like it would help, but he would at least know we love him!

To the people/peron saying that Nathan Drake is based off of Nathan Fillion, READ NATHAN DRAKE'S WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE. He's based off of Johnny Knoxville - a daredevil, apparently. Secondly, I might go and watch this just to see where they go with it.
  • BazyLastard - November 25, 2010 12:48 a.m.

When the movie flops, this will be the moment the studio looks back and remembers as the "Dammit whose idea was it to go with Wahlberg over Fillion anyway?" moment.
  • boxmeizter - November 24, 2010 11:57 p.m.

Wahlberg can only play pissed. A grumpy face and "Aaaarghh!"
  • Syncmaster - November 24, 2010 11:29 p.m.

as far as my game to movie experience go, dont worry, this will change.. eventually
  • shyfonzie - November 24, 2010 11:22 p.m.

Eww, he looks nothing like Nathan Drake! Is there something we can sign to stop this?
  • zachbob - November 24, 2010 11:03 p.m.

well De Niro would be perfect for Sully, but I think they should still use Nolan North's voice in the movie
  • TheWebSwinger - November 24, 2010 10:47 p.m.

REALLY?? He already SCREWED UP MAX PAYNE ROYALLY. Were we supposed to forget that?? Weeeak.
  • Shagnasty - November 24, 2010 10:43 p.m.

FACT: WAHLBERG CAN'T FUCKING ACT. How does this even happen? "Okay, we have a clever and witty character. Who can portray a suave fellow like that? Oh I know, Mark Fucking Wahlberg." This is going to be an hour and a half of this mindless oaf just yelling and shooting things.
  • GRENDELPRIM3 - November 24, 2010 10:39 p.m.

Ok, I think that Mark Wahlberg is a great actor, Max Payne and the Happening sucked, but, that wasn't his fault (heck Anthony Hopkins and Lawrence Olvier couldn't have pulled off that dreck) but come SHOULD BE Nathan Fillion!!! The man doesn't even have to act he just is that character, well maybe with a little less gun play...
  • Clovin64 - November 24, 2010 10:33 p.m.

This hurts a bit. Its hard to imagine anyone else but Fillion to play Drake. Wahlberg just doesnt seem to have the charm and humour for the part IMO.
