Techland put the Dead Island DLC on hold after the game's shaky release. While they originally intended to start rolling out new content quickly, they let it take a back seat to bug fixes and updates - a choice we completely stand behind. Several patches later they're moving back towards DLC by rolling out the game's first full downloadable content pack, "Bloodbath Arena," on November 22. Hey! That's right in time for Thanksgiving!
As one might expect, the Bloodbath Arena DLC adds four "arenas" to the game in which players can, either alone or with friends, fight off waves of enemies. The pack also includes leaderboards, as well as new loot, experience points, and items that can be brought back to the game's campaign mode, letting you upgrade your gear with friends in an arena before returning to the island to show off your new goodies to the undead. One such new goodie is the "brain wave bomb," which is a weapon exclusive to the DLC. Odds are it blows up brains, so, yeah, we're totally interested.
The DLC is free for anyone who pre-ordered the game (and, thus, got the Pre-order Edition), or it can be purchased for 800 Microsoft points ($10). A gallery of images of the game can be found below, in case you're still unsold on more opportunities to slay the undead.
