I have the Astro A40's as my main headset and the sony golds as a back up. The astro a40's are really nice for stereo. The sound you get is by far the best I have had for stereo. I'm ready for true surround sound. As far as I can tell there are only 2 good surround sound headsets out. The Turtle Beach X800 elite and the Triton pro+ true 5.1. Both have 4 speakers in each ear piece. I have not seen very many reviews on triton's and the X800 isn't out yet. What do you think?I have owned both triton and turtle beach. In the past turtle beach has alway been better built and put up with my abuse. I travel for work alot and take my system with me some times. The A40's don't agree with travel. I have had them repaired 3 times since launch of the ps4.

For what it's worth I got the Sony Gold Wireless headset about a week ago, $80 from Amazon. Not worth it. They're super cheap feeling, very flimsy and plasticky. Sound is marginal at best, with very thin, unconvincing base. But the worst part is, they randomly cut out during game play. You'll be cruising along, doing your thing then suddenly there's just complete silence for 4 or 5 seconds. Sooooo aggravating. I would NOT recommend these really cheap headphones to anyone, even at $80 they're disappointing.

I have these as a backup headset. I have never had an issue with it cutting in and out. The sound is not the best. Too much base for my taste for gamin. The build is cheap thou. My brother had this headset as his main and they only lasted from launch to 3 months ago. If you want a cheap back up they are not bad. I'm about to sell mine. I'm going to use my astro A40's as my back up.

I found a solution to the cutting out, I got a USB extender cable, plugged it into the PS4 and plugged the dongle for these headphones in about 2 feet away from the PS4. No cutting out since I moved it about a week ago. Maybe there was wifi interference or something. But overall, I still find these to be cheaply made, low quality sound, and after having used them for a while now they're also not very comfortable. Put them on your noggin for more than about 30 minutes and you'll be tired of having them on. If I were going to be using these with any regularity I would've returned them long ago. But they do work, setup is essentially plug-and-play, and anyways I only use them a few times a week, when my wife gets tired of listening to me running over hookers and shooting people in the kneecaps. You know. For the fun of it.

I found that my Pulse elite are great all in one headset. The only disappointment was how fragile they are. They might sound great but in construction they are horrible.

i have the golds and i love them.. at first i was a bit skeptical but once the app came out (which is free) i fell in love. they are great. best headphones for the $ i like them more than my pulse elites.. a lot more to be honest..better looking, equal sound, better comfort, and lighter but seem stronger

I have an old pair of Turtle Beach X11's and P11's. They might use wires but at least I don't need an internet connection. They sound perfectly fine and 'cos they're not wireless are compatible with anything with a USB port. My point is that just 'cos the future in headsets is out there doesn't mean I want to a part of it. My headset is fine and works well 'cos there's no connection latency issues as it's wired.

I like my PlayStation Pulse Elite Headset. I'm no sound connoisseur, but they work well and thanks to the the USB dongle and it's headphone jack I can listen to pretty much anything wirelessly. I don't have a PS$ to try it on, burt heard it works just as well. (ERP: 150.00)
