Can't stand waiting until Nintendo Switch comes out in March 2017 to get your hands on the transforming console? You may not have to. Nintendo is offering certain members of its My Nintendo account program the chance to try out the console via email invite. Here's the pertinent text from the message:
"To thank you for being a loyal fan, we’d like to offer you a chance to try the Nintendo Switch system before it’s released. Look for an email from Eventbrite for the full details and be sure to register right away to save your spot (availability of tickets are on a first come, first served basis)."
Nintendo plans to hold a big debut event for Switch in Tokyo on January 13/14. After that it will host events across the US and Europe for press and consumers, among others, to give Nintendo Switch a try. This email is probably referring to those events.
If you aren't already a My Nintendo member, you could try signing up for an account and hoping you get added to the invite list before they're sent out. But I didn't get one and I've been a member since Nintendo started the program (Miitomo sure was a thing for about a week), so I wouldn't hold my breath. March is feeling pretty distant right now...

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar.
