(Image credit: INTI CREATES CO., LTD.)

Release date: April 23, 2026

I love a good kingdom rebuilding premise, so, needless to say, Kingdom's Return: Time-Eating Fruit and the Ancient Monster is very much on my radar and should be for any action RPG fans as well. This cute upcoming Switch game has you trying to revive the ruined kingdom of Almacia through an action-packed adventure, complete with combat, strategy, and some resource collecting as well. Not only can you pick a class suited to your playstyle, but you can also build your new kingdom any way you want. It's truly all in our hands here.

Outbound

Outbound screenshot of a camper van driving through a forest

Release date: April 23, 2026

Outbound has been on my cosy gamer's wishlist for a good long while now, so I'm very pleased to say that the game will be heading to the Switch in April (finally). The premise is simple: it's up to you to build a new home out of your campervan. The goal is to live sustainably from your new home, so you'll need upgrades as well as a farm going in oder to be one with nature. I've personally been dying to play this so I'll be picking it up as soon as I can.

Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth is one of my most anticipated games of the year and seems like a perfect handled addition for Switch users. Inspired by Moomin stories by Tove Jansso, this point-and-click adventure will have you following Moomintroll who has woken up early during his winter hibernation. It's his first time alone and he has a big adventure ahead of him. The game looks beautiful and I just know that it's going to feel like a warm hug when we all play it as well.

Constance is a 2D hand-drawn adventure that originally came out back in 2025. It may have taken some time for it to arrive on the Nintendo Switch, but it is worth it, especially if you love Metroidvanias. You play as an artist with a giant paintbrush who has to make their way through levels in order to come out on top. We gave this game a 4-star rating in our Constance review, and can't recommend it highly enough.

Release date: May 29, 2026

When I saw the trailer for My Little Puppy I almost cried, and I'm sure I will go through a pack of tissues once I play this fully come May 29. Here you play as a senior dog who after some very sad circumstances finally finds his forever home. However, when he wakes up in Doggy heaven he'll have to go on a quest to find his dad (you see, crying was justified). My Little Puppy is emotional, cute, and already has super positive reviews. What more do you need?

In this bundle players will get to have access to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, along with a digital soundtrack and some fresh bonus content as well. The Metal Gear games are really some of the best ever made, so I highly recommend putting this on your watchlist, folks.

Release date: TBC 2026

We really are on an action platformer kick when it comes to upcoming Switch games. Well Dweller is a stylish upcoming title that will have you embarking on an epic quest to try and save all birdkind. Take on the role of little black bird (armed only with a matchstick) who must fight massive bosses, survive enemies attacks and try to save the day before it's too late. Developed by Kyle Thompson the art style expertly combines cute and creepy together and it seems like it'll become a fast new favourite for any Metroidvania fans once it releases in 2026.

Release date: TBC 2026

Go-Go Town has been in Early Access now on PC since 2024, but we are finally getting a Switch release sometime in 2026! In this game you are the mayor of a town that is in pretty rough shape. Luckily you see it's potential and are determined to build it up. Work to create a thriving community or unleash your capitalist supervillain side and automate everything you can. The choice is yours. The art style is very charming in Go-Go Town, and it seems like it may be a great entry point into the city-building genre too.

During the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, we got a very brief tease of a new Professor Layton game, which at long last signaled the return of the series. While we don't know too much about the new entry coming to the Switch, we do know that we're set to experience a fresh story filled with puzzles in the new setting of Steam Bison, which is home to advanced steam engines. A mysterious incident is said to draw Layton and Luke there for a new adventure.

Release date: TBC

If you're a Pokemon fan, you probably already know about the Yo-Kai Watch series. It follows a similar format in that you collect critters that also function as your companions as a young kid. In terms of new gameplay features, it introduces a brand new item, called the Yokai Ark, which will let players travel between three worlds that are all set in different time periods, and feature their own protagonist. While it released in Japan back in 2019, there's still no concrete word on a Western release date. We still have our fingers crossed for this one.
