Still on the fence about whether or not you're going to play Pokemon Black / White? Thinking about maybe sitting out this generation?Maybe you'regoing to wait and see if any of your friends pick it up first? Well, it would behoove you to choose sooner rather than later, since today Nintendo announced a Victini distribution for early purchasers of either Black or White.

Above: Victini is the only Psychic/Fire-type Pokemon to date (unless you count Daruma Mode Darmanitan, which I wouldn't, because his type only changes when his HP is half or less). Find out more about Victini inhere

The event takes place from launch on March 6th through April 10th, and it allows you to obtain the Liberty Ticket that you can presentat the ship dock in Castelia City to travel to Liberty Island. The distribution will be over Wi-Fi, so anyone who has a copy of the North American version of Pokemon Black and White should be able to download it regardless of geographical location. And don't worry, European Pokemon trainers - you getasimilar eventthat runs through April 22nd.

The press release doesn't give many details, but it's probably safe to assume that this is the same Victini from the initialJapanese Liberty Ticket event. It's also interesting to note that the release refers to Victini as a "Mythical" Pokemon rather than Legendary, which makes it seem like the English-language versions might start to use a classification system for legendaries similiar to theJapanese naming conventions, in which there are three distinct designations for Legendary Pokemon. Here's the full text of the press release:

Early Purchasers of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version to be Rewarded with Exciting Victini Distribution

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are giving Pokémon™ fans yet another reason to get revved up for the March 6 launch of the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems. Consumers who purchase either of the new games between launch and April 10 will be able to receive a special Liberty Pass via Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection (broadband Internet access required), which will enable them to catch the never-before-seen Mythical Pokémon Victini™.

Victini – the Victory Pokémon – is the first Pokémon that’s Psychic- and Fire-type and cannot be obtained through normal game play. It is said that Victini creates an unlimited supply of energy, which it shares with others. This energy source may be the secret to how it brings about victories. Victini’s unique and exclusive Victory Star ability not only increases its own accuracy in battle, but also boosts the accuracy of all a player’s Pokémon in battle. Victini is a must-have in any Pokémon battle, and is especially useful in Triple Battles, which debut in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version.

Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version include more than 150 never-before-seen Pokémon that players can catch, train and battle as they progress through the game. Both games are now available for pre-order from major retailers throughout the United States for a suggested retail price of $34.99 each. A deposit may be required for pre-orders. See individual retailers for details.
