Where to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black, the gothic new set
Where can you pre-order the new expansion?
1. US stock
2. UK stock
3. Other sets
4. FAQ
Now that we know the expansion is due to launch in July, the question now is where to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black. Is the set up for pre-order yet? Where will stock be cheapest?
That's what I'm here to help with. I've been tracking prices for the best card games across a long-ass period of time, and that means I've picked up a trick or two along the way. If you want to know where to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black without breaking the bank, stores to avoid, and more, you've come to the right place. You can steal all my secrets in this guide.
Tip one: move quickly. I'd recommend checking the following stores each day, and if you see that it's possible to buy Pokemon Pitch Black, don't hesitate. Stock will not stay available for long, so move fast to secure it.
Where to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black in the US
It goes without saying that the best place to find Pokemon TCG Pitch Black pre-orders will be the official Pokemon Center, because its items are always available at MSRP. However, that won't be possible for most of us unless you get very lucky or act with superhuman speed. As such, I'd recommend keeping the following stores bookmarked and checking them regularly.
Miniature Market
Check stock at Miniature Market
I'd always prioritize this indie retailer first above all others because it tends to get stick in early, and at a reasonable price. You can see a demonstration by clicking the link, because initial stock seems to have sold out. However, that doesn't mean you should ignore it from here on out. I've found that it often gets more stock in after the fact, and seemingly at random, so visit it often just in case.
Walmart
Check stock at Walmart
Walmart is surprisingly reliable when it comes to Pokemon TCG stock, and I expect the same to be true of Pitch Black. Sure, those listings will be above MSRP. But you'll struggle to find a more consistent source of cards than this.
TCGPlayer
Check for stock at TCGPlayer
While the listings tend to be overpriced by virtue of coming from third party resellers, I wouldn't be doing due diligence if I didn't mention TCGPlayer as a valid option. It will always provide a chance to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black, though you'll often be paying over the odds for that privilege. Good in a pinch, in other words.
Amazon
Check stock at Amazon
Amazon takes longer to get involved than other retailers, but it will be a good place to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black when the time comes. It usually provides a good variety and even though prices are inflated, they're usually on par with competitors.
eBay
Check stock at eBay
Much like TCGPlayer, eBay is an option if you're truly up against it when trying to buy Pokemon Pitch Black. But to be frank, I'd never recommend it. It's full to bursting with cheeky resellers charging absurd markups, so is only worth considering as a last resort.
Best Buy
Check stock at Best Buy
This mainstay does always get new Pokemon cards in, but whether you're able to buy them is another matter. It usually slaps a "coming soon" label over the top of its items, and these are very often revealed to be available in store only. It's frustrating to say the least, so I wouldn't rely on Best Buy. There are some exceptions, of course, and a few items do get sold online. But they're not the norm.
Target
Check stock at Target
Does Target get new Pokemon card sets in? Absolutely. Are they always the latest expansions, or consistently available? Sadly, no. I've found Target to be very hit and miss recently, so keep an eye on it but don't trust to hope.
Where to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black in the UK
Naturally, you can always head straight to the source (the official Pokemon Center) if you want to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black at its lowest price. But stock won't last long, so chances are you'll be left disappointed. With that in mind, I'd keep the following bookmarked and check them regularly.
Wayland Games
Check stock at Wayland Games
In terms of UK retailers I prioritise, Wayland Games sits near the top of the pile. It often provides cards at a reasonable rate, though these sell out very quickly as a result. That makes it a great place to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black if you're quick.
Amazon
Check stock at Amazon
It sounds silly to suggest such an obvious choice, but Amazon is genuinely great for Pokemon cards right now. That's because it operates an 'invite by request' system, where you ask for an invitation to buy and may get selected. On the one hand, it's a gamble. But on the other, this allows Amazon to keep prices locked at RRP. Considering how expensive Pokemon can get elsewhere, that's massive.
Magic Madhouse
Check stock at Magic Madhouse
I've seen this reliable indie retailer swoop in with early Pokemon TCG stock more than once in the last few months, so definitely keep it in your back pocket. Items sell out fast here though, so move fast if you see something in stock.
Zatu Games
Check stock at Zatu Games
Zatu does usually offer the cards themselves, but it's also started providing prerelease events that will get you a Build & Battle box if you can turn up in person. It's worth considering, at least.
Smyths Toys
Check stock at Smyths Toys
Smyths tends to have a lot of listings for Pokemon TCG, but I'm always unsure as to whether they're actually available or just up for grabs in store - whenever I select them, they read 'check in store.' Worth checking as a backup, in other words, but not relying on.
Where to buy other Pokemon TCG sets
Although Pitch Black is the newest expansion for the Trading Card Game, it's gonna be hard to get your hands on for a hot minute. Fortunately, the same isn't true for slightly older (but still recent) Pokemon TCG sets. To help you get your Poke-fix, I've set up our price-matching software to find the best prices on everything from Ascended Heroes to Perfect Order. You can see its findings below, updated up to the minute.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
When is Pokemon TCG Pitch Black coming out?
The Pitch Black expansion will be available on July 17, 2026. However, you'll be able to get your hands on it early if you go to prerelease events at indie stores from July 4.
What is a "good" price for Pokemon TCG Pitch Black?
We don't tend to get pricing for Pokemon TCG expansions ahead of time, but here's a rough look at how much the most common items cost based on previous sets.
Booster Bundle: $26.94
Elite Trainer Box: $59.99
Booster Display Box: $161.64
Due to demand, scarcity, and cheeky resellers driving up costs, you'll be very lucky to buy Pokemon TCG Pitch Black at those prices. The trick becomes knowing what a "good" inflated price looks like. For Booster Bundles, roughly $40-$50 is pretty decent. As far as Elite Trainer Boxes go, you'll be lucky if you see them for $80 or less. As for Booster Display Boxes, $180 is fairly good.
When will Pokemon TCG Pitch Black pre-orders go live?
The Pokemon Company doesn't tend to reveal when pre-orders will go live, but Pitch Black should become available to buy anytime from now. Stay vigilant and keep checking, in other words.
Why is Pokemon TCG so hard to buy?
As you've probably noticed, it's fiendishly difficult to track down Pokemon cards at a reasonable price... and there are a few reasons for that. While supply may play a part, demand definitely does. The TCG is wildly popular, and a lot of people are trying to track it down. Secondly, unscrupulous resellers like to scoop up as much as possible to flog at an inflated price. Don't buy from them, as it'll encourage the cycle to continue.
Still, that doesn't mean things will always be like this. Pokemon is acquiring a US trading card game distributor, for example, so our stock woes could be about to change.

If you want something to play while you wait for stock, don't miss the best board games or the best tabletop RPGs.

I've been writing about games in one form or another since 2012, but these days you'll find me managing GamesRadar+'s tabletop gaming and toy coverage (I spend my time here handling everything from board game reviews to the latest Lego news). I've also been obsessed with Warhammer since the 1990s, and love nothing more than running tabletop RPGs like D&D as a Dungeon Master.
