File this one under "oh dear". It turns out that Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the game sold as a supposedly ultra-authentic tribute to the military by way of the involvement of real elite military operatives, has dropped seven of those operatives in serious disiplinary trouble.
It's been confirmed that the operatives involved, all active members of the prestigious SEAL Team Six, participated in the game's development without authorisation and against military regulations. The Navy, naturally, is not letting that slide.
In a statement given to Security Clearance, Rear Admiral Gerry Bonelli explained ""Naval Special Warfare (NSW) takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and conducts investigations to determine the facts. We likewise take seriously the Non-Disclosure Agreements signed by Sailors and adherence to the articles of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.
Article continues below"We do not tolerate deviations from the policies that govern who we are and what we do as Sailors in the United States Navy. The non-judicial punishment decisions made today send a clear message throughout our Force that we are and will be held to a high standard of accountability”
Those punishment decisions? A letter of reprimand each, and no pay for two month. Which might mot sound too bad, considering, but will apparently end any chances of promotion and thus stall the career progression of all affected to a dead stop.
