The new Wonder Woman trailer could give us a big clue about the warrior princess' origins

Warner has released a new Wonder Woman trailer setting up the origins of the Amazonian princess, showing the training that made her a superhero and maybe teasing a little more. 

There's a lot of badassery on show in the new footage, but there's one line that could give a big clue about something: "she must never know the truth about what she is." The original canon for Wonder Woman's 'birth' was that she was brought to life by bonding the soul of an unborn child to a baby sculpted from clay. 

We already know the film is following the 'golden age' canon what with all the Steve Trevor rescuing and Nazi battering, that 'what she is' line suggests the film is going fully with character's classic origins. If that's the case then the new fight sequences here will be the competition the Amazonians organised to chose an emissary to visit enter the world of men, and which Diana won by entering in disguise.

Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Lucy Davis, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Saïd Taghmaoui, Wonder Woman will open in cinemas on June 23, 2017.
