The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is heading to 3DS - and it's got a very neat trick up its bright yellow sleeves. Using the Nintendo handheld's Augmented Reality capabilities, the game will recognise circular objects in the real world and turn them into dungeon entrances in the game. That's a very nice idea. Kinda reminds us of Jamie and the Magic Torch where the beam of the torch would make a portal on Jamie's bedroom floor. Doesn't work with a real torch, mind. Not that we ever tried or anything...
Above: This photo of a screenshot just about shows the game's new 3D graphics
The game's Japanese title is 'Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Magnagate to Mugendai Meikyu', which translates as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagates and the Infinitely Great Labyrinth. The 'Magnagates' are the portals, in case you were wondering. The game will reportedly feature Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, but will only release as one version this time as opposed to two complementary releases.
Above: There aren't any direct screenshots yet, so we made this one
We can't help but wonder what else will work as a magnagate. The tell-tale ring in an old leather wallet, perhaps? The circle from Ring? The circle of Life? o.O
