Could Gambit have FINALLY found a director in Doug Liman?

It's fair to say that 20th Century Fox aren't having a great year on the comic book movie front. The less said about Fantastic Four the better, and two months ago director Rupert Wyatt left their upcoming Gambit movie due to creative differences.

With Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse headed our way next year, 2016 is looking much more exciting for the studio, and now there's a chance they've solved their Gambit director problem. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is in final negotiations to direct the X-Men spin-off, which will star Channing Tatum in the title role.

Assuming the deal goes through, Liman would be a great get for Fox; although it would be his first playing with comic book based material, the director has proven himself in the action genre time and time again, most recently with Edge of Tomorrow.

Léa Seydoux - who is currently on screen alongside Daniel Craig in Spectre - is also set to star. With Gambit due out in October next year barring any delays, Liman will have very little prep time before needing to start filming. Starring Tatum and Seydoux, Gambit will be released in UK and US cinemas on October 7 2016.
