With only four months to go until Warner Bros. delivers its next superhero extravaganza in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, a member of the studio's DC "brain trust" has opened up about the forthcoming projects on Warner's slate. In a lengthy interview with Collider, producer Charles Roven dished a wealth of intel on the shooting locations and production dates for Wonder Woman and Justice League Part 1.
"We’re actually gonna start shooting Wonder Woman towards the end of November," Roven told the outlet, nixing earlier reports that principal photography had already begun. "We are shooting in the UK and in Italy... We’re making most of Wonder Woman in the UK and we’re also making most of Justice League there, JL One… We’re definitely gonna be shooting Part One in the first or second quarter of next year.”
Expect plenty of pictureseque set photos and videos within the next month for Wonder Woman; its Italian locale is rumored to be a substitute for her idyllic home. And now we know Justice League Part 1 won't shoot back-to-back with Part 2 as was previously assumed, which makes sense there are three standalone movies scheduled for release between the two.
Turning to the next release following BvS, Roven dropped a massive bombshell about Suicide Squad. If you were expecting a mature comic book caper geared toward mature audiences, think again. "The intention of the film is definitely to be PG-13," he explained. "We really want to make these films tonally consistent so that, as I said because this is a shared universe, at least our current thinking... so you want to leave yourself open to changing your mind, doing something different, being inspired, that's the whole process of filmmaking is you have to allow for inspiration as well as having a road map for what you're gonna do. So our plan right now is to make all these films PG-13. In some cases, you know, right there on the edge of PG-13, but still PG-13."
It's not unexpected to tailor such a big-budgeted movie toward a family-friendly rating, but it does leave plenty of questions. For example, how are they going to get around the Joker's deranged sadism spotted in the trailer?
