Chris Pratt talks Star-Lords backstory in Guardians Of The Galaxy

Chris Pratt is set to be catapulted into A-list leading-man status when Guardians Of The Galaxy arrives this summer, and the star has been discussing what we can expect from his character Peter Quill, otherwise known as Star-Lord.

“He’s very much a kid at heart,” says Pratt. “He’s never known his father. He’s sucked away into space just as his mother dies and is raised by a blue-skinned humanoid."

“He has spent all his life being told to toughen up and has a false sense of bravado as a result. But deep down he is lonely, and while he’s a guy travelling in space, getting to do whatever he wants, he misses his family, his community.”

“Through the course of the story, he learns to care again and that there’s more to life than just taking and doing exactly what you want.”

For all the weird and wonderful fantasy trappings, it sounds like there’s going to be more than a bit of heart to this one, with Parks And Recreation fans well aware of just how lovable Pratt can be.

Directed by James Gunn and co-starring Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, Guardians Of The Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.
