Blade Runner sequel adds Jared Leto in mystery role

In the wake of Suicide Squad's negative reception, Jared Leto hasn't been shy about expressing his disappointment in having a good amount of his Joker scenes cut from the final film. The actor is quickly moving on to pastures new though, as Variety reports that Leto has joined the cast of the Blade Runner sequel in a mysterious role.

Leto's method acting antics on the set of Suicide Squad made a lot of headlines, and I'm curious to see if he replicates that unique process while filming with Harrison Ford (the behind-the-scenes stories would be legendary). Still, we shouldn't forget that Leto is a terrific Oscar-winning actor, and adding him to a cast that includes Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Robin Wright means Blade Runner 2 is not wanting for heavy-hitters. Here's hoping the story Denis Villeneuve & co want to tell is worthy of their talents.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2 will be released in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
