If Jim Sheridan has his way, it’ll be Spider-Man and his once-mooted replacement: together at last! Or the battle of the doe-eyed thesps, if you want to put it another way.
Yes, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire are both negotiating to play siblings in Jim Sheridan’s remake of Susanne Bier’s Danish-language war drama, Brothers. The plot finds one of the pair (Maguire) shipped off to fight in Afghanistan, while the other (Gyllenhaal), long considered the black sheep of the family, is left to care for his wife and child. Yeah, that situation won’t end in dysfunction at all.
David Benioff is busily penning the script, and he’ll need to have it ready for Sheridan to shoot in November.
