There's a casting call, a shooting schedule... But is The Blair Witch Remake a proper revisit of one of the greatest horror films ever made (yes, it is) or just a low-key side project?
Original directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez have recently been talking up the possibility of a third Blair Witch movie - to patch the holes opened up by the disappointing sequel Book Of Shadows.
But a casting notice seen by Slashfilm suggests that The Blair Witch Remake is more likely to be a first-time feature cheekily trading off the Myrick & Sanchez name - and, presumably, about to be legally slapped down by original studio Lionsgate.
Still, though... With the recent success of Paranormal Activity , it'd be cute for Myrick/Sanchez to revisit the Blair Witch story as an ultra-lo-fi, under-the-radar thing...
Maybe it's all an elaborate meta-hoax, with all the names changed.
Or maybe this is all just wishful/witchful thinking...
Madness? Shrewd business sense? Time for a Blair Witch remake? Or is the original already perfect?
