Oldboy's Pom Klementieff joins Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 has announced its first new cast member, with THR reporting that Pom Klementieff has joined to sequel. Naturally, details of who she’ll be playing are being kept firmly under wraps, but the report does say that her character will have a “key role” in the new film.

According to the report, Marvel took a long time finding somebody for the role, with Klementieff undergoing several rounds of chemistry reads before finally bagging the part. James Gunn has previously asserted that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord will remain the only human character featured, so expect her to be playing one of the many alien races in the Guardians universe.

It’s a big break for Klementieff, who has worked largely in France before making her US movie bow in Spike Lee’s recent Oldboy remake. She’ll join returning stars Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista for Guardians 2, which will hit UK cinemas on April 28 2017 before arriving in the US on May 5 2017.
