Josh Brolin will play the lead role in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake, according to reports.
The remake of Park Chan-wook's 2003 Korean revenge thriller will begin filming in March 2012, giving the busy Brolin time to work on both Gangster Squad and Labor Day before then.
It's not yet confirmed whether Christian Bale will play alongside him as the film's villain, although the thought of those two going head to head for the first time onscreen has TF tingling.
DreamWorks had originally wanted to bag the remake rights back in 2008, with Steven Spielberg behind the camera and Will Smith starring. That could have been a very different beast altogether.
In Oldboy Brolin will play a character who is imprisoned and held in solitary confinement for unknown reasons, before being released 15 years later and attempting to get revenge on his captors.
